About Thálita Castro

Since childhood, I have been surrounded by dogs, and found that I had an instinctive gift in helping sick dogs to heal. Whenever I saw an abandoned dog on the street, I would take the dog home, where I would cure its health and then find a happy home for it. Along with a poodle that I bred twice, I had a Saint Bernard and a Lhasa Apso. These were the three dogs that I owned when I was a teenager.

After obtaining a degree in Human Resource Management, I came to the United States. Embracing the beauty of New York City, I began my career as a pet photographer, as well as a professional private dog walker for my clients in Manhattan.

One of my jobs as a dog walker was with an absolutely amazing client, who decided to help me learn how to train dogs. He and his wife offered to pay their dog trainer to teach me the basics of dog training, in order to be consistent with their adorable dog. I was inspired and fascinated with how dogs learn, and how to use positive reinforcement in a way that was fun for both dogs and owners.

Using positive reinforcement to connect dogs with me and their owners is a big part of everything I believe in. So, I decided to gain more knowledge in how dogs learn and dog behavior by enrolling in the Catch Canine Trainers Academy.

After a rigorous course of study, I earned my CCDT certificate. I also was very fortunate to be mentored by Ferdie Yau and to be a volunteer at the ASPCA to further develop my skills with dogs. This knowledge and training helps me every day to provide love and care to some of the greatest dogs in the world!
